The Engº António de Almeida was born on 5 September 1891 and died on 9 October 1968. Through his will, he was able to establish a foundation named after him, which has artistic, educational and charitable purposes.
The Engº António de Almeida Foundation, which was officially recognised, on 5 May 1969, owns a museum where one can find several items assembled by its founder: furniture, jewellery, textiles, porcelains, paintings, clocks and coins.
The latter are part of an important numismatic collection, mainly consisting of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, French and Portuguese golden items.
